The purchasing agent negotiates vendor terms, prices and schedules delivery of all materials, supplies, equipment and services using knowledge of budget and schedule requirements.
Develops relationships with a network of suppliers and manage the material delivery schedules to ensure on-time execution and superior quality
Negotiates best vendor terms, achieves lowest possible pricing and delivery costs based on specific budget and schedule requirements
Prepares and issues purchase orders and purchase order changes
Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other required documentation to assure orderly retention of records
Frequently interacts with the Project Managers and Foremen to understand job requirements and order material as requested
Works closely with Warehouse Coordinator and communicate arrival/departure to Project Managers
Conducts follow-up with Accounts Payable for supplier inquiries and complaints
Supports all purchasing activities for Operations

This job operates in a professional office environment and in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will be Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with flexibility for earlier or later hours based on needs of business. This position may occasionally require weekend work.
Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. A maximum of 25% local or out of town travel is expected.
Required Education and Experience
High school Diploma required. Minimum of two years purchasing related experience and demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform required tasks.
