Finance Manager

Summary

The Finance Manager is responsible for the oversight and analysis of every day financial activities and provides advice and guidance to leadership regarding financial strategies.

 

Essential Functions

  • Oversee operations of the finance department (A/P, A/R, Project Liaison, Payroll), set goals and objectives, and design a framework for these to be met

  • Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to managerial staff while recommending options for courses of action

  • Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results and the company’s actual performance

  • Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities

  • Functions as a back-up for weekly payroll processing and all other functions of the finance department

  • Examine financial and legal documents to verify accuracy and adherence to financial regulations and acceptable financial principles

  • Develop or recommend solutions for problems or situations

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated creative and critical thinking skills

  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Extensive understanding of financial trends both within the company and general market patterns

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

  • Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with flexibility for scheduling based on needs of business and with prior approval.

 

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day; minimal travel is expected for this position.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Previous experience in a financial management position

  • Proficient user of finance software

  • A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles

  • Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required

  • MBA, professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, or similar preferred
